Non-allowable Items
Non-allowable items are defined as items that cannot be in a patient's personal possession while he/she is a patient of Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital.
1. Alcoholic beverages
Controlled substances
Firearms and dangerous weapons
(The above items are designated as "Contraband" according to state law)
2. Foods & beverages on lodge from the canteen or outside the facility
3. Hosiery
4. Tampons (may be medically allowed per physician's order and justification)
5. Glass containers & mirrors
6. Jewelry that can be safely removed
7. All tobacco products/paraphernalia ARE PROHIBITED.
8. Lighters & matches
9. Any electrical (outlet or * battery) items
( may be medically allowed per physician's order and justification)
10. All hair care accessories, except plastic combs/brushes, ponytail holders & rubber bands
11. Boots/shoes with sharp points, steel toes and/or high heels
12. Coat/clothes hangers
13. Notebooks with spiral wire loops or metal rings
14. Glue, paint, white-out, felt markers
15. Belts
Clothing / footwear with any pull strings (attached or sewn on) when on Level 0 or 1
16. Any object with sharp edges or sharp points
17. Any aerosol products
18. Mouthwash, perfume, cologne, aftershave and nail polish
19. Other items not specified above will be disallowed if, in the judgment of the
Nursing Staff and Medical Staff, they have any actual or potential harmful use or misuse
